Born and raised in Charleston South Carolina, Kevin started playing the guitar at the age of 9 (we do have pics of him with a guitar at the age of 3) with an old beat up acoustic his Aunt Rita(DeJavu II) gave him. The guitar seemed to be a nice fit due to the fact playing basic songs came easy. At about 12 Kevin started picking up KISS songs. (since that is all he listened to at the time). A couple of years went by, even though a good athlete, he decided in high school to pursuit music. He won most talented in High School and played in a band called TALON.
Years of practice paid off as Kevin join a local band called ALIAS. ALIAS was a flop! Kevin then met a fellow musician thru work named Jim Oldfield, known as Outlaw. Outlaw was in a band with Robert Wagonbrenner called STERLING. STERLING later became WRETCHED EXCESS. Somewhere around 1989-1990, as Outlaw and Kevin's relationship grew, Outlaw then asked Kevin to audition for WRETCHED EXCESS. The auditions went well and Kevin was a member of WRETCHED EXCESS along with CC on drums, Robert Wagonbrenner on rhythm guitar, keyboards and vocals. Practicing for a couple of months, WRETCHED then came across David Dunning (now SOLO and with LIVE BAIT) who was singing for SEDUCTION. David came to audition and the new and familiar WRETCHED EXCESS was formed.
WRETCHED EXCESS then began playing locally and regionally became Charleston's hottest rock band for about 3 years. Opening for national acts such as Ace Frehley, Meatloaf, Eddie Money, George Lynch and Foghat, WRETCHED was the band to see every time they played. A Virgin Records A&R rep. really liked the band but insisted that they redirect their music to the new Grunge wave before he was to create any opportunity with the band. As things began to change in the band, Kevin left to pursuit personal gain. WRETCHED EXCESS kept playing for about 2 years as a three piece and faded out as a lot of hard rock bands did.
Kevin met Chuck Shaw, a great local guitar player that played in bands such as WICKED TRIXX and C EASY, at a night club and agreed on an idea to start a band. The band was KROOKED WILLY. KROOKED WILLY played around Charleston for about a year before it was dismantled.
Kevin moved to Charlotte to pursuit computers and networking. After finding out of his moms cancer, he then moved back to Charleston to help in her care. Working at the North Charleston Coliseum and AOL/Time Warner, Kevin was not satisfied with his career. He then met is wife to be Holly and together came up with the idea to mix her career as a Court Reporter with his technical experience and create an opportunity in the Legal profession. Kevin & Holly now own a company called LMOC, Inc. / Legal Media of Charleston where Kevin is working as a Certified Legal Video Specialist, PC Consultant, Webmaster and Music on hold creator and producer. Holly is Court Reporting with LMOC, Inc. Kevin and Holly also own a company called KevHo, LLC to manage their rental property and help in Real estate projects.
Musically, Kevin is currently the Lead person & Lead Guitar Player in The Charleston Baptist Praise Band. He is currently working in projects and creates, records jingles and message on hold productions. Wretched Excess, the full lineup, is still playing specialty gigs around our great city of Charleston, SC.
